Official! Abarth Coupe Unveiled!

Say hello to the return of sports cars. A term so confusing nowadays with 400hp 3 Series, 500hp luxury limos and 1000hp super cars. In fact the entire industry had gone blindingly stupid these few years since BMW created the M5 with 500hp, which immediately made the Aston Martin V8 Vantage more like a Chine vase; that the entire automotive industry went on a blind following of trying to master the dark art of selling only through horsepower figures. To cut it short, Audi had just created a wagon with a Twin Turbo Charged 5ltr V10 that pumps out a massive 580hp, how on earth can a dad set himself as a role figure bringing his family to a Sunday picnic on such a 2 ton monster?

Following our reports earlier
, the Abarth Coupe, a genuine sports car will now bring sense back. From the tuning arm of Fiat, utilizing the platform of the Fiat 500, they've created a low stance, lightweight, go-kart handling sportscar with a small revvy engine.

We reckon, that's all it needs to bring a smile onto one's face, not terrified screams of palm sweating and pant peeing cardiac arrests. Powered by the Fiat 500 Abarth's 1.4 liter with a healthy 135hp on tap powering just 1000kg of weight. This alone, is enough to put a smile on our face reading it. It's relatively affordable as well, aimed to be priced around that of £12,000. When can you expect your big smile? 2010. Who says there aren't sensible sports cars?
