Abarth will be developing it's own sportscar!

Abarth fans rejoice! Revealed by a Fiat insider, Abarth, the tuning arm for Fiats and Alfa Romeo had secured a deal with Lotus, to obtain their next generation Elise platform to develop a small, 2 seater sportscar with engines options ranging from a 1.4 ltr turbo charge to a 1.8 liter turbo charge plant.

This is a good sign first, Abarth had long rumored to develop their own in house sportscar, and secondly cross platform sharing is always a good thing.

But we're wondering whether is it true that there weren't anything in Fiat's backyard that Abarth can't put their magic hands to?

Nonetheless lets all wait for this exciting sports car to debut.

This is a very good sign. They need to make small, cheap and affordable sports cars. Stick with the 1.3L MultiJet Fiat engine (190Nm) or similar powerplants. Big power from small engines and light weight chassis. 1.8L to be honest looks a bit big for Abarth. Just hope they work hard to keep the costs down. Work Tata Nano style. Be inspired by Vespa (low budget, big on style and above all ... fun).
