Will this be the final answer to the unending allegations that started when Porsche got so infuriated by Nissan's 7:29sec run on the Nurburgring, of which Porsche with their billion dollar war chest, bought a standard GTR from United States, flew it over to Germany, on to their home turf of Nurburgring, then publishing an embarrassing result of 7:54 sec for the GTR's ring time. Then Nissan responded to these allegations furiously by releasing evidence, footages, tyres, everything they could grab their hands on basically shunning the allegations. Now, of what used to be Winding Road Magazine, Driver's Republic had taken their hands on a standard GTR with Bridgestone tyres, not the optional Dunlops Nissan had brought to the ring during that record shattering run, and going on a dogfight with the 911 GT2. Who's faster?
Well, even before I read the entire review, I'm rather convinced the 911 GT2 would be the faster one around the track, as the GTR was basically created to defeat the 911 Turbo, of which the GTR is already a few hundred kilograms heavier with the same 480hp, as for the GT2, its 300kg lighter, with 530hp.
In the end, the Porsche 911 GT2 is 6.9 Seconds quicker than the GTR without those Dunlops, which could mean they should be about the same if it were equipped with, as for the 911 Turbo, I'd guessed Porsche will still have to shut up that its quicker than the GTR.
HOWEVER, the 7:55.9 Sec run from DR is extremely close to the 7:54 sec that Porsche did with the standard GTR with Bridgestones. Can the GTR with Dunlop tyres really produce results that's TWENTY FIVE SECONDS FASTER?
I guessed Nissan won't be very happy with this, and we hope Nissan and Porsche could set up a stage fight to answer us automotive journalists.
