2008 Paris Motor Show: Lexus IS250C

Lexus unveiled the hard top convertible of the IS, and our first impression was ... hmm was it designed using the same time it does with retracting its roof? (20 seconds), as the it looks well, weird can we say? The lines just doesn't flow cohesively, as the 4 door IS had a profile of the rear being wider than the front, whereas the attempt to 'align' the rear opening to accommodate the 3-piece aluminium top results in a section being slightly out of shape with the entire body. However, leaving the top open does leave a rather more desirable look. Rear seats are of course, staying true to convertibles, having sacrificed space for the folding roof, would of course lead to a cutting down in rear legrooms, resulting the seating positions would have to be placed higher up; anyhow rear seats are not the priority for these open top cruisers. Moving on to the rear, we're rather surprised to see the IS250C having different cluster designs on its rear lamps as it incorporates BMW style horizontal LEDs instead of the IS facelift's L-Finesse L shape rear reverse lights. As for the boot space, of course its alot smaller than its four door sibling, nonetheless a golf bag would still fit. Now we're not really sure if this 250C would be a better seller than the BMW 325Ci, but if Lexus were to go ahead with a IS-FC, that would really make things exciting, power drifting kicking up dusts while in a cabriolet would give much needed rawness to Lexus' image.
