Geneva Motorshow: 2010 Volkswagen Polo is one hot mini Golf Ball!

NOPE, I did not mix up the images, this is not the Golf MK VI. This is the new 2010 Volkswagen Polo! My oh my it looked absofantasticully HOT!

Volkswagen is definitely on a home run on the new Polo, I think its about time they realize guys hate gay looking chirpy girly cars, and women hate gay looking chirpy girly cars as well. All cars should be handsome, smart, with crisp body lines and aggressive, well proportioned styling. I for one hated Volkswagen's stupid design language that starts with the Polo facelift of the current generation, of which the design went on to the second worst looking coupe hardtop cabriolet in the market - The Volkswagen EOS (The worst looking is the Renault Megane Cabriolet).

The current Polo GTi with its proven 5 speed manual gearbox fitted to the famous 1.8T engine is a genuine package, if not for its uber-ugly looking fascia. Not so much now as the new Polo just smashes the old one into bits, in fact I think they need a new name for it, Polo is just a sport too gentleman (gay), perhaps Volkswagen Baseball might fit this better.

Carrying heavy styling influences from the Golf MK VI, the new 2010 VW Polo starts with those crisp looking headlamps that looks suspiciously 99.99% identical to those of Golf's, along with the bodyline that runs along the wings of the front wheels, flanking all the way to form the rear lamp assembly. The new Polo rides on an entirely new platform, stretching in all dimensions, yet weighing 7.5% lesser than the previous Polo, and would still gather 5-Star crash test results from the latest Euro Ncap standards. (Projected)

The new Polo's interior also marks a revelation for Volkswagen, the first impression this interior gives any onlooker, is the notion of wanting to search for those discreet performance badges (GTi?) (R20T?) Yes, the interior was styled like a performance, upmarket model, the chrome edges, the little metal buckle within the lower bottom center of the sporty three spoke steering all screams 'premium' to me. Yes, the Germanic briefcase-like design language hasn't change much, but why fix something that ain't broken? (For a quick comparison, go checkout Renault Megane Cabriolet's interior) Not only does it look great, engine options would also include a tasty 1.2TSi engine good for 103hp and does 43mpg, a 7-Speed DSG gearbox is also available. Can you smell that 1.8TFSi engine coupled with a 7-Speed DSG gearbox Polo GTi coming? I want one! Check out the official images released in the slideshow below!

P.S (Recent VW developments makes me wonder - Is Audi relevant anymore?)
