Detroit Auto Show 2009: 2010 Subaru Legacy Concept Unveiled! Is Scooby LOST?

Following the rather (WTF) teaser earlier on, Subaru had unveiled the 2010 Legacy Concept at the Detroit Auto Show, giving fans a cold sweat, and rivals some extent of relief. Why? Trust us, it just looked weird.

We have to admit it, we liked Subarus, in fact we quite like Subarus; however, since the debut of the bug-eyed Scooby Impreza Version 7, things had gotten a bit bumpy. After the distinctive but ugly Ver 7, Subaru went on with the better looking but rather bland Ver 8, the uber good looking Ver 9 that sees the debut of the 'Flying Vagina' grill and lastly the Ver 10 hatchback that Subaru aims to target the Golf GTi - And we all know how's the outcome.

The Tribeca SUV, debut with that love/hate Flying Vagina grill, its oftenly dubbed one of the most ugliest cars on Earth, however it does have its charm on its design directions, something like what the Italians or Lancia guys would do; then Subaru decided they're wrong again and slabbed up a front that looks like the 'SRX Just Another Car RSi'

All this calls into a little question, what's up Scooby?

Now of course the Legacy had a rather smoother ride compared to its stablemates, well not until this concept came along. Showing weird headlamp designs and a cluster of 'Will-never-see-light-on-production' LEDs, the new Legacy is an oddball altogether in terms of styling, and we know what's good when we see one, this is definitely not the case.

However, once you take a look at the interior, you'll begin wondering this could be some sort of a hero's car from 80s action flicks of course, as the interior was laden with all sorts electronic gadgets, a touch screen center control panel, a rear view mirror that seems to house some missile homing device. Hell even the front passengers get a uber wide headrests, all because then they can fit a widescreen LCD display at the back of those elongated headrests, giving this car some PS3 credit here.

QUESTION: What's Scooby up to?

Its as if they ran out of ideas, tucking fake touch screen center control panels onto the dash is not something new, and even three year olds would knew it won't reach production, putting LCDs into the headrests, a 13 year old might know how to do it and even if its available in production, its very likely to be an expensive option, and the rear view mirror, what else do we want to see from there other than cars? So, having no direction at all, they created a Legacy that carries no legacy at all, no ideas whatsoever, and tug in loads of products from CEBIT. We dig those huge seats thou.
