A singer, TV show personality, News Anchorman and FIA N-GT champion Nikolay Fomenko had found another avenue of expanding his career - building the first Russian supercar. With the names that strongly echoed "My Russia", its clear that their intention was to provide a 'safe' backup plan should Russia went into a feud with the Western powers and was punished to not be able to receive their fair share of Lamborghinis or Ferraris, thus they can turn to Marussia for a stint of patriotism with 300hp.
Dubbed to be the first hybrid sportscar, the Marussia will be powered by a petrol engine coupled with an electric motor with batteries. Now we're not really sure which of these will power the wheels, as normally if there's an electric engine involved, then either it'll be powered by a small gasoline engine, which will charge the batteries on board, a la Chevrolet Volt. The other alternative, would be Tesla Roadster's all battery electric engine. In this case, the use of a 3.5ltr V6 that develops circa 240hp-300hp (with the combination of the unsourced yet electric engine) would be of much of an overkill should its main functions are to charge the batteries.
Thou they've mentioned that battery packs would be used, they've also given consideration for the cold weather Russia's accustomed to, where such temperatures would greatly hamper the capabilities of batteries, and that they've resulted to explore 'nano technology' to overcome these issues. (We'll see).
As for the concept of Marussia, its more of a boulevard cruiser than Elise track monster, as despite a rather 'sporty' intent of 300hp, its also equipped with 10mbps/sec wireless internet connection, a 320GB hardisk and a slew of entertainment features for its owners.
I guessed too much effort has been put into place on engineering and entertainment aspects, where they've hired kindergarten students to style the interior. Check it out. Nuff said. I've get an Audi R8 with a 1.2 ltr 3 cylinder engine than joking myself in this car. Chrome sticker triangular anyone?
