So is this new tranny any good? Well it sure is (at least from figures claimed by Hyundai, and some hypothetical claims as well).
Poised to replace the 5-Speed transmission currently found in the 3.3 liter V6 Hyundai Azera, the new 6-Speed transmission will work its way into most model range currently utilizing the 5-speeder. Improvements are massive, with a 12kg lighter weight in comparison, 62 lesser parts used in the construction, 12.2% better fuel efficiency, 2.5% better acceleration from 0-100km/h, and 0.5 seconds faster from 60km/h - 100km/h (arguably the acceleration that matters most to common drivers).
Kudos to Hyundai, they've really came a far way from say 5 years back, with plenty of well designed cars (Hyundai i30) and superb engineering prowess (Hyundai Genesis) products, Hyundai, currently the 5th largest manufacturer in the world, with GM anf Ford both announcing mass production cuts for 2009 and 2010, don't be surprise to see Hyundai joining in the Top 3.
