Google Zeitgeist: Which country had the greatest increase in 'Car Searches'?

The Google Zeitgeist, is an annual compilation of everything/anything that had the greatest increase in searches compared to prior year. Meaning, the Zeitgeist will show each country's greatest increase searches in categories, for example in most Chinese based countries, 'Edison Chen'(Hong Kong Superstar / man who asked Morgan Freeman to place his cellphone with the security guards in Dark Knight - Who was involved with a humongous sex scandal earlier this year) ranked highly, where a year back, he might not have made the list. Now, to our surprise, CAR SEARCHES ranked highly in Malaysian's Google searches, along with politics, (of which Malaysia's 50 year reigning Barison Nasional lost their majority two thirds for the first time).

This really does shows the paradigm shift of Malaysians increasingly moving into the internet arena in terms of infoseeking, and to have a unique CAR BRANDS category just shows the drastic shift in the choice of media that consumers had gradually move towards, in terms of car buying decision making. (Rejoice autobloggers of Malaysia!)

So who are the top 10 'CAR BRANDS' increase in search?

1. Perodua Nautica
2. Toyota Rush
3. Proton MPV
4. Proton BLM
5. Honda City
6. Proton Saga
7. Grand Livina
8. Honda Accord
9. Myvi
10. Honda Civic

Interestingly, the Nautica, which as of time of posting, I've only ever seen ONE on the road, as the selling price of close to RM90,000 for a local car is unimaginable. Oh, its not exactly a local car, its imported straight from Japan, off Toyota's factory line and with a Perodua logo slap on to it. As for the #4 Proton BLM, its actually the Proton Saga, where plenty were still thinking BLM's the name, which truly counts the 'contribution' of autoblogosphere for revealing the project code of the model earlier than mainstream media, rendering everyone thinking the Saga was actually the BLM. Grand Livina, for American and European readers, is a 7 seater mpv derived from lengthening the Nissan Latio, of which is the Nissan Versa in your respective markets. (Google it yourself)
