2008 Paris Motor Show: New Toyota Avensis

While Toyota offers the range topping Crown in Europe, the Camry in Asia, Europeans do have slight different preferences when it comes to sedans. With a majority of the market preferring hatchbacks, the market for large sedans were always dominated by the likes of European brands. With the failed attempt of bringing the Camry to Europe, Toyota started the Avensis, which is smaller in size and competes with the likes of Peugeot 407, Opel Vectra which offers the same size as the likes of the A4, 3 Series and C-Class but much affordable. Now, the Avensis had come to the third generation and is now officially unveiled at the Paris Motor Show; with an increased length of 50mm, the new Avensis now offers better interior space in all dimensions, offering occupants better comfort and space. The new Avensis now spots Toyota's new Valvematic technology which dramatically reduce emissions by up to 26%, engines offered includes a 1.6 ltr 132hp, 1.8 ltr 147hp and a 2.0 ltr with 152hp; aside from the petrol variants, there are four diesel options, all tuned to offer 10% better emissions. Frankly speaking the Avensis spots a very capable package and should it be offered in United States or Asia, it would definitely increase Toyota's overall appeal in these markets.
