Photo Comparison: 3 Series vs A4 vs C-Class & Video: M vs Quattro GmBh vs AMG
Of course, these comparisons are the mere everyday A4s, 3-Series and C-Class. Check out their performance brothers in this video done by Top Gear.

That's not exactly a fair picture comparison. The 3-Series pictures are all of the standard versions, and that is fine. But the A4 and C-Class pictures are not.
The exterior shots of the A4 (apart from the top side by side (by side?), and the bottom headlight detail pictures are of S-Line versions of the A4. I don't mean like the S4, that's not out yet, but the S-Line variant, ie sportier bodykit, rims, interior, plus lowered suspension. The interior shots are of usual standard A4s.
While the C-Class pictured here (apart from the top-of-the-page front end, and the dead on rear pic) are all Avantgarde models spec-ed with AMG kits. While the AMG-kits come standard with the Avantgarde spec in the UK and the US (where they're called C-Class Sport), it is not so everywhere else. The original Avantgarde trim is the one that is available here in Malaysia, ie the grille mounted 3 Pointed Star. The AMG-kit again comes with the bodykit, nicer rims, and sportier lowered suspensions.
Both these S-Line and AMG-kit models are the equivalent of the BMW's M-Sport models.
So to be really fair to the 3-Series, you'd have to show the 3-Series M-Sport.
Or the regular versions of the A4 and C-Class.
Well Hafriz, as you might be very well aware that the BMW E90 3 Series had just undergone a facelift, it's almost impossible to get the pictures of the M-Sport variants. And to add, the A4 I showed is the standard press-kit for US market and this is not the S-Line A4.
As for Avantgard, it has always been a spec for Mercedes, something like the S or G spec for Toyota.
Nonethelss, thanks for the comments, but as a 'professional' automotive enthusiasts, we should also know whatever leather/carbon fiber/alloy trimmings or LCD Sat Navs / Rims shown differ from market to market, hence it is something that shouldn't be taken into consideration when viewing these pictures.
Oh just to add, you might also notice from the A4, some are shots of the 2.0 Diesel, some are of the 3.2 V6. Nonetheless, it's just to show all three at once, which I thought was rather rare, moreover with the C-Class still fresh, A4's new arrival and E90's facelift on the verge of coming our shores, it's a good way to put all three together. (You might also notice I couldn't get my hands on right hand drive photos in such a comprehensive manner.
Yeah, the facelifted 3-Series M-Sport has not yet been released. Though from past examples they don't usually alter their M-Sport bodykit appearance all that much.
On the A4 though, I'm afraid that the pictures (more specifically the 3.2 V6 model) are indeed S-Line spec-ed. The S-Line bodykit is indeed subtle, but the differences can be seen clearly when compared to a standard A4. Front bumper (slightly deeper air dam with integrated splitter, sportier fog lamp holders with chrome surrounds), Side skirts (very slightly deeper, with a line that exaggerates the deep side sills), and rear bumper (again slightly deeper, with a more sporty faux-diffuser with mesh vents), plus the old RS4-style rims of course. And I'm pretty sure there are "S-Line" badges on the car (on the front fenders).
Note of course that the A4 that is officially sold here is not available with the full S-Line bodykit, just the S-Line interior package, lowered suspension, and 18" rims.
I'm very well aware of the 3 spec packages (Classic, Elegance and Avantgarde) offered by Mercedes as my family has owned quite a few of it ourselves.
The C-Class is available here in Avantgarde spec, but NOT with the AMG-Kit that's shown in the pictures. Though it's often mistaken that the AMG bodykitted version is the Avantgarde spec models, due to the fact that in some countries (most prominently UK and US) bundle both these options together, as such that if you specify an Avantgarde spec-ed C-Class, yours will come with the AMG-kit.
The 'actual' Avantgarde spec includes the big Mercedes star on the grille instead of the regular top of the bonnet emblem/ornament combination, plus chrome linings on the front fog lights.
Thanks so much for your very detailed eye. Just a quick question, how you found out this site? Cheers! I hope to see more of your comments, they're really constructive.
Thank you =).
