Mercedes to jump on the Turbo bandwagon

While many have perceptions of Turbo charged engines as being 'fuel guzzlers' the reality is quite far from what was perceived.

Turbo charged thou sounds as if cars on steroids, and our natural instincts says the more power, the more resources it'll consume. In fact, the reason why more and more cars are going Turbo charging, is because it's able to produce power equal to higher displacement engines, without consuming more fuel.

Turbo chargers are physics that defies economic terms - Creating something out of nothing.

Our cars burn petrol and air, and emits Carbon Dioxide and Mono Oxide out of our exhausts, a turbo charger, uses waste air that was emitted through our exhaust systems to spool it's in built fins and compresses air that the engine 'breath' upon.

We all know oxygen makes up roughly 27% of our air, hence with every 'mouthful' of air, 27% are oxygen, when turbo charged, every 'breath' of air our engine takes, more oxygen are available hence helping combustion using less petrol, creating more power.

Mercedes Benz's Head of Research & Development Thomas Weber had revealed by the year 2010, all models in Mercedes' lineup will offer turbo-charged engines, which now joins in with Audi and BMW's heavy investment on turbo charged engines.

However according to Mercedes, turbo charging is only a small part of their plan towards their commitment to the environment towards a more sustainable future, by offering a Hybrid drive S-Class in year 2009, Mercedes will fully disembark on Hybrid technologies, and zero emission vehicles will be their long term goal.

The 'father' of modern automotive technology had taken the brave step (towards what others had pursue for years) let's hope more and more turbo charged vehicles will turn up.
