Another so-called Electric Supercar?

The world seems to be all over for electric supercars, can't blame for, not very difficult to imagine why; plug in the wall, overnight, stepped on the pedal burn some tyres and entirely free from feeling guilty, and in stupid UK, you might be avoided off congestion charges and pay lesser in road tax from the average, $2000 dollar salary a month poor guy who drives a Daihatsu.

However it's never easy, as battery technology as of now are still rather primitive, there has never been any significant breakthrough in battery technology for the last few decades. It's not hard to imagine why it took Toyota, GM, Honda and other automotive giants many many years in extensive R&D to come up with what they promised, which as of now are still rather crappy, after billions of dollar spent.

Then how come its possible for mini-me manufacturers to suddenly come out of no where and proclaim they made it? Supercars that runs on electricity? Easier said than done. Oh, they haven't had 100 years of goodwill to live up to, they haven't have bread and butter Corollas or Civics to sell and to fill up the pockets of their shareholders, that's the reason it's so much easier to claim than ever to sit down and get it done.

First, the entire industry was stunned by Tesla Motor's sudden announcement of their supercar, running entirely on electricity, able to reach 100km/h in 3.9 seconds, 256 miles per gallon consumption (412 KM per 3.8 liter of petrol) 350 KM per charge distance. Then the delay came, and then the delay, then the delay and then the lawsuit to Fisker for allegedly copied their technology, and then the finger pointing, and then nothing. As of now, Tesla hadn't evem produce the car.

Then came the Fisker, promising a 4 door super saloon with a Hybrid electric engine, which seems rather promising as production is said to be on it's way.

The latest "Me Too!" came from the unknown automaker, Shelby Super Cars that had made headlines earlier on with the introduction of the SSC Ultimate Aero Twin Turbo, which is official Guiness World Book of Records for Fastest Production Car, beating Veyron's record by 3 miles per hour.

They're now boasting to make the world's fastest electric car, with two electric engines each producing 500hp, capable of operating without charge, for 6 years upon one full charge.

6 years? 1000hp? Till now, Fisker and Tesla hadn't even mention what kind of horsepowers their electric ponies will develop, and here comes Jerod Shelby claiming they've cracked the puzzle. *Ehem. .

GM, Toyota, Honda, you guys weren't as good as these little go-cart makers. Or really? Let's wait and see.
