Acura revealed a slew of (very dark) teaser images of its upcoming Coupe SUV.
This could be a watershed model for Acura as upon countless attempts of challenging the hierarchies of the premium segment, Acura's Honda based models weren't exactly what buyers of this segment was looking for.
Compared to Lexus' independent, RWD models that either comes with high powered V8s or Hybrid power plants, Acura's range were all FWD (Cheap to premium buyers) and engine sizes only went up to 3.0 V6 (Economical in USA terms); not exactly the kind of tarmac shattering performer (BMW 335) Americans are looking for, nor the Polar Bear saving Hybrids (Lexus) Americans are trying to act like.
Thus, this new concept, aims to overshoot all the lack luster attempts from Premium-wannabe-Acura, and to immediately upscale themselves by being the only competing brand in the very new segment BMW created - Yes, another Coupe SUV.
Now before you yawn and scroll else where, take a look. In fact, those sleek lines, and that hidden rear door handle does seem to promise something rather pleasing, albeit the pointless, completely useless sloping rear roof. Well, Van Gogh's paintings doesn't ionize air nor electrocute mosquitos either I'd reckon.
