When Hyundai launched the Genesis, they're very clear of their intentions, how bold it may seem or how ridiculous consumers perceived their intentions to be however, is not a question now.
As the Hyundai Genesis was just crowned the Top Rated Upscale Sedan by Consumer Reports, a non profit organization that buys every single car/thing they review and are not sponsored in any way by advertisers aside from consumer's annual subscription. 7 million subscribers to be exact. Each year, Consumer Reports review more than 1,000 cars in the US, that in itself is a testament of how influential and powerful they are.
With previous tests by Edmund's, doing a comparison between the Hyundai Genesis and Lexus GS, and picking the Genesis over the Lexus, is already in itself a big encouragement for Hyundai, and with the ratings by Consumer Reports this time around, it's a major kudos for the Korean manufacturer that managed to put itself atop within the ranks of Lexus, in comparison to various failed attempts from Acura and Infiniti.
