For the 13th year in a row, Audi had racked up record sales in its history since the Auto Union eras. For 2008, Audi managed to surpass the magical 1 million mark with 1,003,400 units sold worldwide, posting a 4.1% gain over previous year, despite a global downturn.
Sales was greatly boosted with the class leading new Audi A4 B8 and the Audi Q5 mid size SUV that was very well received. With a slew of new segment product range upcoming, which includes the A1, an EV A2, A5 Sportsback, A7 and R4 sportscar, Audi's aggressive expansion is sure to make a strong foothold in the premium car segment.
However, something caught our attention in the press release. There's no mention of Audi's bold goal of becoming the number 1 premium car maker; instead there's a very gray statement of "We want to make Audi the most attractive premium brand worldwide."
