This is interesting, and it speaks length on the maturity between companies in handling or avoiding such misdemeanor. Its like this, GM and Ford arrange a special event inviting all journalists (print media, tv, bloggers etc) to a 'backgrounders' event where the PR department gave a special preview on what's anticipated for the upcoming Detroit Motor Show, thus passing on relevant, supportive PR material for a more consistent, correct media coverage across all media platforms. And all journalist who're given the 'honor' and 'respect' to the 'backgrounder' event are required to sign a Non Disclosure Act, and all of them of course will happily honor it, as a form of gentlemen's mutual agreement and respect.
However, Chrysler, long reported by us as the Detroit 3 that's most deserve to go into the books of history, decided to take on the bloggers, by rejecting requests from Jalopnik and Autoblog to cover their backgrounder events, for reasons we speculate as to the 'constant bashings they received from bloggers'. Thus supposingly pissing off Jalopnik, of which due Jalopnik did not attend the backgrounder event of Chrysler, and subsequently did not sign the NDA, they can then reveal what's upcoming from Chrysler's end for Detroit Auto Show.
Kudos Chrysler, and especially to their PR man Mr Rick Deneau, the automaker's Director of Product and Brand PR/Communications, for really thinking these Mega Players of the Autoblogosphere have no way in accessing your short and rather boring list of 'What's Coming from Chrysler for Detroit Motor Show'. That just shows how naive and unintellectual people within Chrysler are. Do they deserve that few billions? NO.
Well since Wheels Weekly had a reader base of around 40% from United States, lets share with ya'll what's upcoming on Chrysler's end for the Detroit Motor Show shall we? (Alas, I didn't get to sign the Non Disclosure Act as well...)
Detroit Auto Show:
With the unveiling of a slew of EVs earlier on, Chrysler had a achieve something not far from phenomenal! They've actually managed to tug in the EV (from other vehicles revealed earlier on) to the Jeep Patriot. WoW! How impossible was that? I'm sure everyone at the motor show will 'awe' over a Jeep Patriot.
Chicago Auto Show:
Chrysler had again managed something spectacular! They've actually managed to remove the rear truck bed of the Dodge Ram, creating a Chassis Cab Truck and put it on a motor show! Wow! I'm sure everyone will 'awe' upon an upskirt Dodge Ram.
New York Auto Show:
All new Jeep Grand Cherokee, completely redesigned, high towing capability, and low rolling resistance tyres. (What For? Your customers are still enjoying your $2.99 guarantee on petrol price right? Even thou its currently $1.40 - LOL)
Future Products: (If they ever get pass February 2009)
Sketchings of the 2011 Chrysler 300c and 2011 Dodge Charger, they're also shown a Dodge Durango foam model, some sketchings of futuristic/retro interiors, there are also talks of full internet capability within their future lineups, what? So their customers could surf automotive blogs within vehicles in showrooms, then only to leave after reading more? Great!
You see, none of these would've leaked, if Mr Rick Deneau, the automaker's Director of Product and Brand PR/Communications, had paid some basic respect to the autoblogosphere. What a boo boo they've borught themselves in.
Moreover, honestly speaking, the stuffs that we've just 'leaked' not a single one of them excites us.
