Fiat eco:Drive - What affects fuel efficiency more than cd figures or engine frugality? Driver's right foot of course!

Manufacturers spent gazillions every year trying to create the best engine that manages the balance between performance and fuel efficiency, being a prime target from politicians trying to grasp any available cm² on newspapers to get their head or ass on the media, car manufacturers were long time blamed for anything ranging from pollution to global warming. Thus manufacturers over the years had tried almost every conceivable effort in pushing for lower emissions, greener engines or renewable fuel, where in fact the total greenhouse gases produced by all cars combine, were no more than the total population of cows and goat's fart, which were actually methane gas, a greenhouse gas with affects 28 times more severe than CO2 in contributing to global warming. And actually, in our previous report, cars and planes and trucks had for years produced dirty air that contributes to the effect of global dimming, an effect that had helped protected us form the full scale of global warming, effectively offsetting the heat unable to escape to space by blocking the heat from sublight itself.

Moving on to the subject today, one of everyone's prime concerns nowadays when committing their purchase and choice of vehicles is undoubtly the consumption and emission. However, to bring you all closer to the truth, no coefficient figures, engine management systems could outweigh the real suspect for high fuel consumption, and that is the driver himself. Watch the video below and prove us wrong.

Now coming back to the subject again, we really have to give our kudos to Fiat for this breakthrough (at least in direction), as Fiat had just launched this eco:Drive software that's available free for download at www.fiat.com/ecodrive , anyone who owns a Fiat Punto Grande and Fiat 500 equipped with Microsoft's Sync infotainment system that has Blue&Me could plug in a thumbdrive, and all information (a la blackbox only better) of the driver's acceleration, braking, behavior will be recorded, the driver can then upload to the installed eco:Drive software and there will be an analysis and tips provided on how to drive efficiently. How much fuel can you save with this software? A staggering 15%.

Now, go buy a Fiat and make sure it comes with this.
