Fabulous looking wasn't it? The Alfa Romeo 149. These are the first images of the successor to the wildly popular Alfa Romeo 147. Slated to come equipped with the Turbocharged 1.4 liter developing 150hp, a larger car than the Alfa Romeo MiTo which was launched earlier. Developed on the platform of the Fiat Bravo and Lancia Delta, which are huge hatchbacks by any measure. The new 149 will come thundering into the hatch market rivalling hot favourites of Golf MKVI and Ford Focus in 2009. Yes it does look good, but it left us wondering whether the 90s BMW strategy of BMW Small, Medium, Large looks are anything but a good move. Squibble your eyes and you'd be hardpress to differentiate the two. Yes, the 8C Competizione looks fabulous, and the MiTo looks cute yet sexy, but going with this direction left us wondering can Alfa Romeo now build a 3 door 149 or a 5 door MiTo? How about the successor of the 149? 151? Or they simply don't have the time to plan further? Yes, I can but I refuse to help myself differentiate which of these is the MiTo or the 149.
