Toyota considering the production of the A-BAT Concept

Amidst the current economic downturn of United States, the sub prime crisis, the sky high oil price, most manufacturers in US had decided to offer smaller engines in their current lineup of trucks, or pickups as we call them, mind you, everyone from around the world, these pickups offered in US are no little smurfs of what we have around the world, the likes of Ford Ranger, Mitsubishi Triton or Toyota Hilux terrorizing our streets are considered mini-trucks in USA, and most mainstream trucks consists of the likes of the Ford F-150 and Toyota Tundra sized pickups. Toyota however, agian buck the trend by considering building the A-BAT Concept, which is of the size of a Ford Range, with a 2+2 seater format, believing that Americans would turn to smaller sized trucks to handle their Moose hunting. (An activity which is now very important to the US Presidential race) The concept unveiled earlier on sports a truck bed that could be extended by laying down the rear +2 seats with a latch opening downwards covering the seat backs, and a 4 cylinder Hybrid Synergy Drive engine, of course we weren't really sure Americans are ready for a Hybrid truck yet, but hey, being number 1, you gotta buck the trend at times right?

The shape reminds me of that truck from HALO.
