IIHS wants to raise legal driving age in USA

The IIHS had again raised the issue of wanting to prevent 16 year olds from getting behind the wheel, of which currently in United States only New Jersey raises the legal driving age to 17.

Studies have revealed that there is indeed a direct connection to this claim by IIHS, where on average 20.7 teenagers died per 100,000 teenage drivers for states that allows 16 year old to drive, and a drastic decrease of 4.4 deaths per 100,000 teenage drivers in New Jersey. However thou many states had reportedly tried to raise the legal driving age, Americans are still too obsessed with the withheld of their 'freedom' (to die?). This is rather surprising as most Americans object the proposal of IIHS, where studies have shown it could reduce teenage accident fatalities by 66%.

Have any of you readers done stupid stunts while you're 16 or 17? Is it true that you've all drive more sensibly after a few years behind the wheels? We're eager to hear from your comments.
