New Audi TT-RS will be a true TT !

When the Audi TT was first launched, many was speculating what TT actually means, and it's widely misunderstood to stand for Twin Turbo. The Audi TT, was done for the commemoration of a race held in the Isle of Man, dubbed Tourist Trophy.

The new Audi TT, following the original's curves and proportions, was, like the old car it replaces, extremely popular the very moment it was launched. However, the Audi TT was always regarded as a bit of a hairdresser's car, with most that was sold being the Frontrak, 2.0T engine producing 200hp, it wasn't exactly fast to rival the likes of Porsche Boxsters. The TT-S was an even funnier proposition, where the usual TT offers a 3.2 V6 250hp engine with loads of torque, the pricier TT-S was using the same 2.0T as the base variant, highly tuned to produce 265hp, of which averaging throughout the bandwidth of the engine's parameters, it's slower, harsher than the 3.2 V6. Hit the jump to continue reading.

Spotted testing in the Nurburgring for quite some while, the TT-RS was longed speculated on what engine will it be using, now words has it that Audi might revive the original engine that made Audi so famous back in the 80s, the straight 5 engine. This time around, it could be a 'halfcut' modified version of the 5.0 ltr V10 engine powering the RS6, and with 2.5ltr, I5 engine, coupled with twin turbo, should be healthy enough to have a 390hp output, enough, in fact very enough to rival that of Porsche's Boxster S.

Here comes the question we've always asked when it involved stepping into Porsche's boundaries. Will Porsche, the current majority shareholder of Volkswagen Group, allows this to happen?
