New Audi A8

Since launched in 2003, the Audi A8, constructed with Audi's ASF (Aluminum Space Frame) was a real technological breakthrough for large, executive sedans. With an unladen weight of 1690kg for the base model, it is regarded as extremely light weight as closest competitors weigh simply 400kg more. In fact the Audi A8 weighs the same as the bread and butter Audi A4, hence the weight cut results in very high efficiency.

However, with competing rivals all having launched new models, Audi has been preparing the new A8. Using the modular platform from an elongated A4, the new A8 will of course again set benchmarks in its construction as the only unique, lightweight proposition in this class. However it will only be available in year 2010.
