Since the 70s, the Ford Mustang, Dodge Challenger and Chevrolet Camaro was not only the dream car of American kids, but their muscle car attitude, the raw rumble of their V8 engines, massive burnouts, screeching tyres and smokes have all become part of American culture, and their very existence filled Detroit, as the all important creator of American's dreams. With Ford reviving the Mustang thru it's original spirit, widespread popularity pushed Chrysler to launch the Dodge Challenger, with it's name being self explanatory on it's existence; Chevrolet then came with the Camaro which was featured in the Transformers movie recently as bumblebee (not a very 'muscle' character name we must say).
GM recently held a media test drive for the hot off the oven Chevrolet Camaro in San Diego, thinking they would have all the eyes and ears of people downtown, Jalopnik however, decided to do some cross state long driving to help GM hype up the event -BY BRINGING A FORD MUSTANG AND A DODGE CHALLENGER! crashing into the party, they've even brought both in black, same as the press fleet of the Camaro. Driving alongside into the face of a very pissed off GM PR guy, they parked their car sandwiching (supposedly) the Camaro, and gave out a good rev clamoring for more attention - One that we reckon the lonely Camaro won't be gathering as much.
The very view of this were already enough to pump up the adrenalin for withdrawing at ATMs for down payments at the local
Ford, Dodge or Chevrolet dealers and we somehow figure that the GM PR guy should be fired, not just for not being able to think up such an exciting first drive - let alone the lack of 'understanding' and the getting-pissed-off by Jalopnik's efforts.
Great job and thumbs up to the folks at Jalopnik!
