BMW armored X5 introduced

BMW unveiled the E70 X5 Security. Achieving safety requirements of ballistic level VR4, the BMW can sustain firepower up to a 0.44 Magnum.

In order to withstand increasing violent crimes, such as kidnapping, carjacking and outright terrorist attacks, the X5 Security can is built with heavy duty materials, ballistics resistant metal 2.2cm thick bullet proof glass. It's also equipped with an intercom system and a camera monitoring system. It's built so strong that it can even withstand small explosives and then sped off. With it's 4.8 ltr V8 engine producing 355hp, it could leave danger zones with an acceleration of 7.5 seconds from 0-100km/h despite the overwhelming weight penalty, which we guessed would be more than 2.5 tons. In order to couple with the weight increase, the X5 Security had it's suspensions set up tweaked to accomodate the extra weight, and could take a payload of 500kg.

It would be great to know how well prepared it is for car theft, as the previous X5 Security of David Beckham's was stolen - TWICE. Ending Beckham driving an Audi Q7, of which Audi gave him for free out of 'compassion', and to BMW's distress. Well, not all of us are as good looking as Beckham, but we could at least spice up our rides with some BMW X5 Wheels from WheelHQ.com
