These rendered images were leaked earlier, receiving overwhelming response of how everyone wished this is the real deal, however upon revealing that it's just a mere render from a Russian fan, interest quickly died off.
Fear not, as now it's pretty much confirmed, as Mazda had filed patent of the design for the new 2010 Mazda 3 and we have it here. Brought to you exclusively by Carscoop. Hit the jump to continue reading.
This image on the right, thou looking slightly cartoon-ish, is what Mazda had submitted to OHIM, the official Euro agency for filing patents and designs in all of 27 countries in all of European Union.
As we can see from the submitted patents, it looked very close to the renderings done, (except that the render looked better) with a very thick C-Pillar and a slightly bulgy rear (for better headroom for the rear). Nonetheless it is apparent that Mazda's new directions were heavily applied here.
Check out other pictures of the render and the real deal filed to OHIM.
