Renault shows the limited edition - Thrash Me On The Track Megane R26.R

Renault, thou famous for their cheeky designs, excellent MPVs and small, practical hatchbacks; happens to also be one of the manufacturers who're really good in producing small, fun, fast cars.

With the initial Renault Clio Sport V6, spun off from a regular Clio, the car was stripped bare naked, engine placed at where the rear seats used to be, the car was a real track monster.

Now, with the Megane R26, which is also an excellent hatchback that could easily rival the Civic Type-R, Renault went a step further (by adding a .R apparently) by stripping the car clean, change whatever they could to carbon fiber stuffs and produce this FWD beast.

Renault has decided to charge their exclusive 450 customers extra by REMOVING these:
  • Rear Seats (Only seats 2 now)
  • 3 Pointed Seatbelts
  • Side Airbags (How much it weighs anyway?)
  • Fog Lamp (How much it weighs anyway?)
  • Rear Wiper (How much it weighs anyway?)
  • Climate Control (How much it weighs anyway?)
  • All sound proofing, winter proofing materials (How much it weighs anyway?)
And adding these:
  • Carbon Fiber Hood
  • Carbon Fiber Seats
  • Roll Cage
  • Lots of leather
The result of this diet is an impressive weight loss program of 123kg (271 pound) off the kerb weight, and this is able to catapult the Renault Megane R26.R around the Nurburgring in an impressive 8 minutes 17 seconds! Making it the fastest front wheel drive production car to go around the Nurburgring (Claimed by Renault)
