New sports car likely to be released by Volkswagen

Anyone knew what car is this?

It's a Porsche 914, commissioned by Porsche and built by Volkswagen in the 'olden' days. A small, fun two seater sports car that's very light weight, with adequate power is what makes up the word 'Automotive Paradise'

Back in the 1960s and 1970s, sports cars doesn't come with much eye popping horsepowers, 300hp is a big deal, most hovers around 170hp, 200hp+. Without crazy crash regulations, cars are built light, A and C pillars were thin, driver's view of the road was great, cars are simple, mehanical, power wasn't the greatest motivator of sales, fun is.

Over the years everything had drastically changed, today there are four door luxury cars that comes with 700horse powers, and while supercars back then comes with 300hp, supercars nowadays comes in 1000hp. Horsepower is seriously overrated and the Fun of driving underrated.

According to Autocar, Volkswagen will be unveiling a 2 seater, lightweight sub 200hp sportscar as a cheaper rival to the Lotus Elise, sporting perhaps a 1.4 TSi engine which is Supercharged when the RPM's low and Turbocharged when it goes on full boost, developing a staggering 170hp for a 1.4, and return fuel consumption figures of 23 kilometers per liter of fuel.

With Audi rumouring the possibility of an R4, and Porsche being Volkswagen's largest shareholder (soon to be owner), there could be chances where we could find a Porsche 914 replacement soon.

Check out these photos of the Volkswagen R Concept, shown in 2003, is Volkswagen's last shown concept of what a People's Sports Car would look like in the 21st century.
