However all these years, the RX-8 was never considered to be the true successor of the excellent RX-7, given that the RX-8 is an NA, civilized coupe for the style conscious, with the innovative rear hinged suicide doors, it was considered more of a very successful fashionista rather than a track demon where the RX-7 once was.
Moreover, costing a mere $27,000 USD; the RX-8 was never perceived as being in the same league of RX-7, that cost the same as a Porsche 911 back in the 90s. Given that the Porsche 911 now costs $73,500 USD at least, we have to agree to the fact that a successor is needed.
