The Audi R8, Audi's first foray into the supercar business, sporting a Mid-Rear engine setup coupled with rear bias Quattro 4WD system; upon winning various automotive magazine and journalists Car of the year for 2007, has been selected as the DTM Official Safety Car.
The Audi R8 had been dubbed a Porsche 911 killer, offering more for less; had even been speculated as the key harass to Porsche's move into securing higher decision making rights in Volkswagen, to fend off internal product cannibalization of their popular 911.
