2010 Acura NSX - Finally

Despite Honda's apparent attempt to disguise the Acura NSX, using cues from concepts (lower right), and the spied zebra NSX pounding the Nurburgring in June, sources in Japan managed to reveal the NSX (lower left) 2 years ahead of its designated launch.

Our verdict on how it looks? We're desperately trying to look for excuses, perhaps reminding ourselves on how 'dissapointing' everyone were when Nissan unveiled the R35 concept, or how low the coefficient drag of the GTR is, hence looking like a smiling godzilla etc.

Well it seems the latter fits the question, having no spoilers and fins the NSX was deliberately sculptured to cut into air, hidden extensively by a bulge in the spied 4 wheeled zebra, is perhaps some secret weapon from Honda's F1 involvements.

According to the sources, the entire rear part of the car works as a gigantic spoiler, notice the slightly lifted part near the rear windscreen? It could be a duct where air was channeled into and out of the two vents beside the Acura logo at the top of the boot lid, beneath the gigantic stripe of third brake light. We wouldn't rule out the use of something similiar to F599 GTB Fiorano's C-Pillar spoiler.

And of course the integrated diffuser next to the exhaust would also come in handy by letting air pass underneath the car faster than what's going on above, sucking the car onto the ground as it pounds the Nurburgring in 7 minutes 37 seconds during it's first ever attempt.

Further enhancements on aerodynamics on the final production ready model should be able to produce results of below 7 minutes 30 seconds, given that the 5.0 ltr V10 engine producing close to 600hp, of which the smart power plant would be using Honda's VCM (Variable Cylinder Management) system shutting off half of the combustion chambers when not in full attack mode.

Given a weight of 3256 pounds (1476 KG), which is almost 300kg lighter than the GTR, and with almost 600hp and Honda's excellent Super Handling AWD, the 2010 Acura NSX successor, would definitely put up a good fight to the GTR V-Spec, why V-Spec and not the standard supercar slayer GTR? Well first of all the GTR is already launched, and if the NSX launched 3 years later couldn't even beat the GTR, why produce it? Secondly, the NSX costs around $136,000 which is very near what the V-Spec would command, given that the GTR costs $72,000 and the V-Spec is rumored to double that.

All in all, Honda should and MUST aim for the V-Spec, not to say the upcoming Lexus LF-A which promise to be fast enough, yet the most luxury supercar ever.

Last of all, a FR car a successor for the NSX? A gran tourer coupe successing a midship thoroughbred? We weren't convinced.

NSX :"Watch out you big bully! My brother's gonna come get you!"
GTR: "Yeah right, three years later?"
