The most important thing, is that it sky rocketed the market value of the AE86, a car that had previously been largely ignored, a measly 130hp RWD hatchback from the 80s.
Seemingly inevitable now, upon acquiring up to 16% stake in Fuji Heavy Industries, the parent company of Subaru; Toyota and Subaru will be bringing us the next AE86, an affordable, no frill RWD sportscar possibly around 200hp that will be lightweight and fun.
There are rumours where Toyota would be using a boxer engine from Subaru.
Well the images shown above is quite promising, nonetheless it looks too grown up, too serious for a fun, cheap car.
