Are all European makes gas guzzlers?

With petrol price approaching RM2.70 in M'sia and around RM12.60 per liter in Germany.

Many over here in M'sia would've go "I'm avoiding European makes, they're gas guzzlers."

Or is it? European markets are highly competitive, people don't usually buy small displacement engines, unlike Japanese where a 600cc engine is too fast for their permanently jammed roads.

Europe is a country of vast mountains, winding cliff side roads, snowy mountain hairpin turns to Spain's vast grassland hot tarmac, and of course Germany's Autobahn.

Cars had to be - You guessed it. Powerful, Sturdy, Safe, Equipped with all sorts of gadgets, Innovative, and FUEL EFFICIENT.

So, try to do your sums, research, and compare a 1.8 i-VTEC Honda Civic against a 2.0TFSi Audi A4. Which is a 1.8 liter Continuously Variable Valve Timing engine versus a Turbo Charged engine equipped with Fuel Stratified Injection.

Yes, the A4 is more fuel efficient than the Civic in real world driving conditions. (You and I and all know 70km/h drive up and down our NSE is pointless.)
